Mrs. Maria Rodriguez was appointed Auditor General with effect January 1. 2025. She is the first female to begin as an Audit Clerk II and move up the ranks to Auditor General. Previously, she was promoted to the post of Deputy Auditor General on November 1, 2019 and is the first female to hold this post. Mrs. Rodriguez has twenty-four years of experience in the Office of the Auditor General, beginning with her appointment as an Audit Clerk II on August 21, 2000.

Mrs. Rodriguez is a Certified Fraud Examiner and a member of the Association of the Certified Fraud Examiners. She is also an International Performance Audit Standards for Supreme Audit Institutions (ISSAI, INTOSAI Pronouncements) Facilitator. Mrs. Rodriguez has mentored African SAIs on Performance Audits of Preparedness for SDGs, Latin American countries on Performance Audits of Sustainable Public Procurement and Caribbean countries on Compliance Audits of Transparency, Accountability and Inclusiveness in COVID19 funds.

Mrs. Rodriguez holds a master’s degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of South Wales and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Belize.
